Tanya's story: streamlining compliance across LDC and OSHC in Sydney's suburbs

Tanya is the proudowner of a local, family-owned childcare service situated in the outer suburbs of Sydney. Her establishment offers a range of services, including long daycare (LDC) and preschool programs. With a deep-seated commitment to providing exceptional care and early learning opportunities for children, Tanya's centrehas been a vital part of the local community since its inception in 2008. Over the years, it has earned a sterling reputation as one of the most belovedchildcare facilities in the area.

Tanya's Challenge

Tanya's solid dedication to creating a joyful environment ensures that the children always look forward to coming to her service. However, this heartfelt commitment alsoposes a challenge: it leaves her with limited time to run the business and ensure that her service complies with government regulations.

The challenge deepened when Tanya expanded into Outside of School Hours Care (OSHC) to meet local demands. This endeavour proved overwhelming and complex, primarily due to differencesin OSHC policies and regulations compared to her existing services. To meet these new requirements, she needed to develop a new set of policies. Unfortunately, the government website offered limited and abstractinstructions, making this task even more difficult.

With these challenges in mind, Tanya set out on a mission to find a complete solution, eventually stumbling upon The Desktop.

When expanding into OSHC made compliance twice as hard...

Tanya discovered The Desktop when she connected with a team member while searching for solutions to her childcare challenges on some Facebook groups. She wasgenuinely impressed by the team members’ passion and expertise in the Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) field. She promptly signed up for a membership.

The membership has left Tanya elated. She now enjoys access to an extensive library, encompassing over 1600 resources, including a various forms, checklists, and templates that substantially reduce her administrative workload. Moreover, her membership enables her to engage with our team and request the creationof new materials.

One aspect thatparticularly impresses Tanya is the Resource Library's dedicated section for OSHC materials. This feature stands as a rarity in the market, and itenables Tanya to maintain consistency across her multiple childcare centres. Her commitment to regulatory compliance is demonstrated through her multiple memberships.

Mandy, our Resource Management and Member Support Officer, commented: “Active members like Tanya letus know about their specific needs, enabling us to provide precise solutions. With over 16 years of experience in this business, we can proudly say thatthere are few materials we don’t have in our library.”

In summary, Tanya's utilisation of the extensive resource library, has streamlined her childcare operations, and ensured her service compliant.

Anita's success story: a helping hand for her OSHC centre

Anita operates an outside school hour care service in regional Queensland. Her centre plays a vital role in assisting working parents in taking care of their children. They provide services before school, after school, and during school holidays for children ranging from preschool age to school-age kids.

Anita's Challenge

Running a childcare service is not an easy task, and Anita soon found it beyond her capability to keep up with the ever-changing compliance and regulations while managing the business and energetic children.

The dedicated OSHC owner also struggled to create checklists and forms for various activities at the centre.

Acknowledging the overwhelming workload, Anita began searching for solutions to help her understand and stay updated on the constantly evolving policies and regulations in this highly regulated industry. However, the free documents available from various websites proved insufficient.

Then, through Facebook, Anita connected with Mandy Edwards, The Desktop's dedicated Resource Management and Member Support Officer. Impressed with Mandy’s expertise, the convenience and extensive resource library of The Desktop, Anita signed up for a membership to reduce her workload and stress.

The helping hand Anita was searching for...

Anita no longer has to worry about keeping track of and updating ever-changing policies and regulations, as she could rely on the 13 years of experience and expertise offered by the The Desktop team.

Anita is also delighted with the comprehensive and diverse resource library offered by The Desktop. She has reached out several times to request checklists and templates, such as the Staff Roster Template and the Medical Risk Minimisation Plan template and was thrilled to find that these materials were readily available. It just saved her so much time!

Additionally, Anita appreciated the fact that The Desktop library extended to cover the OSHC sector, which is not common in the industry.

Anita's experience underscores The Desktop’s significance in helping childcare owners thrive in a highly regulated environment. With expert guidance, a rich resource library, and time-saving templates, it has eased the burden of compliance and regulations.
